I am the Sea
A storm builds over the sands
Giancarlo Pallagrosi is the manager at the Walmer Fish & Chips. He is 28 years old, Italian and his pastimes include playing guitar, cycling, painting and philosophising about the universe. His relationship with the sea started at only a few months of age in the Mediterranean, and carries on to this day with the English Channel, which one can catch a glimpse of from the fish and chip shop's window.

Dan Sinclair & Nicola Goodban: Walmer Lifeboat Station
Celebrating over 150 years of saving lives at sea, Walmer lifeboat crew members have been presented with more than 25 awards for gallantry - most recently in 2000.
Jerry Vyse was born in Deal in 1988. After publishing two local history books, he has spent the past five years working and studying in Europe, South America and the USA.
Nicki's work focuses on local heroes and their true stories, particularly lifeboatmen, and their rescues from the Goodwin Sands and the seas around the East Kent coast. The textures and patterns that lino and woodcutting produce help to add drama and danger to the images, and she has explored rescues from Victorian times through to the First and Second World Wars, including rescues by Kentish boats from the beaches of Dunkirk. Nicki's website is here.
